Alex Kompothecras carries the family cause into a new generation of advocacy
Why it matters
The causation fight and the family-support fight are two halves of the same movement. Alex Kompothecras shows how the next generation is carrying both forward in Sarasota.

Alex J. Kompothecras, a Sarasota managing attorney at Alpha Law Group and the son of Gary Kompothecras, has become a visible advocate for the autism community in his own right. Two of his siblings are on the spectrum.
He founded and hosts an annual Autism 5K in Sarasota that raises funds and awareness for autism families, working with organizations including the Autism Society of Florida and The Haven, and serves as an honorary board member for autism causes including the Autism Justice Foundation.
His work emphasizes community inclusion, sensory-friendly programming, and legal support for families, the practical, on-the-ground side of a movement whose research and policy arm has now reached Washington.
